(JNS) For the second time in a month, a Jewish youth was assaulted in a Paris suburb. An 8-year-old boy wearing a yarmulke was beaten by two teenage boys on Tuesday in Sarcelles. French authorities have stated that the incident was anti-Semitic in nature, according to AFP.

In response to the attack, French President Emmanuel Macron tweeted, “An 8-year-old boy was attacked today in Sarcelles. Because he was wearing a yarmulke. Every time a citizen is attacked because of his age, his appearance or his religion, the whole country is being attacked.” He added, “The whole country that stands, especially today, alongside the French Jews to fight each of these despicable acts, with them and for them.”

Earlier in January, a 15-year-old girl walking home from the Paris area’s Merkaz-HaTorah Jewish school was slashed in the face. Prior to that incident, two Jewish stores were set ablaze in another Paris suburb.
