Community Business Highlight: Brooklyn Party Rental

In the late 1990’s Miriam Sabzehroo started up Brooklyn Party Rental along with her sister Terry Nigri. They worked very hard and had success in the competitive party planning market but decided around 2005 to pause the business and focus on their families.

In 2011, their nephews, Sonny and Albert Halawani, decided to resurrect this family business and went on to make it the large company it is today. Brooklyn Party Rental is now a household name. Known for their fine work and dedication to client satisfaction, they were able to grow the business. The Halawanis took Brooklyn Party rental from their mothers garage, to the large 5500 square foot warehouse they have today with four delivery trucks, a van, and countless employees.

Before they decided to go into the family business, Albert was working with autistic children for a few years with no college education. He knew he had to start something big to one day provide for a family. When Sonny came to Albert with his aspirations to rebuild BKPR, Albert jumped at the idea and they’ve been partners ever since.

Working with a sibling isn’t always simple, but Albert finds comfort in knowing he can trust and rely on his partner 100%. Brooklyn Party Rental is a go-to call for small events like a backyard barbecues to larger events like a 350+ seated wedding.

Holidays are also a busy time for the Halawani brothers, Sukkot especially.

“We have a pretty simple and easy way to help out the customer on how to set up the Sukkah,” Albert explained, “You tell us the size of your Sukkah and we could recommend different layouts to make it all fit.”

Brooklyn Party Rental services Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Long Island, Staten Island, and The Deal NJ area. They rent out different styles and colored folding chairs as well as ballroom, napoleon, and chanel chairs. They have over 40 table options and multiple sizes and styles of tents. They also rent out popcorn machines, cotton candy machines, barbecues, VIP ropes, and lucite shtenders. BKPR basically provides anything you might need to make your event a success.

“My favorite part of this job is after working with a client and going back and forth with them, at the end of the event when all is done I get a thank you phone call,” said Albert of his rewarding work, “knowing the event went the way they wanted and the customer is happy is by far the most satisfying feeling.”

Albert conveyed a message for people who are starting their own businesses as well.

“Never give up. There is nothing more rewarding than looking back and thinking of all the struggles and hardship you went through to get to where you are today and also what’s in store for you in the future,” said Albert of his journey to success, “I used to drive my own delivery truck and I was lifting tables and other items for over 2 years. Now I have a great crew and I haven’t been behind the wheel of a truck since.“

Albert knows that with hard work and perseverance, anyone will able to reach and exceed their business hopes and goals.
