Groundbreaking at Congregation Tiferet Torah

On Tuesday morning, Aug. 15 at 9 AM a historic event took place. The groundbreaking for the new building of Congregation Tiferet Torah, under the leadership of Rabbi Michael Haber, commenced. The plans call for a magnificent edifice which will adorn the Quentin rd. and East 2nd street corners.

For this Kehilla, and for the community at large, Tuesday marked the beginning of a momentous and long-awaited project. Rabbi Haber has dedicated his entire life to our community and his speeches, Sefarim and spiritual projects are well known throughout the Sephardic world. The congregation and Rabbi chose to forego a traditional groundbreaking event so as not to delay the project any further.

Immediately after obtaining the necessary permits, construction crews began to work while only pausing for a few moments as a short ceremony and Dvrei B’racha were delivered by the Rabbi. Also on hand Tuesday morning was Mr Harry Adjmi, who is the benefactor of the project, as well as Rabbi Joey Haber. Mr Jack Elbaz, Mr Isaac Shabtai and David Haber, who are all members of the building committee who were there to usher in this exciting occasion as well as review construction details and plans.
