(JNS) The Israeli Air Force struck positions of the Palestinian terror group Hamas on Tuesday night after several rockets were launched at the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, marking the fifth consecutive night of rocket fire from Hamas-ruled Gaza.

Rockets were fired over Ashkelon around 10:45 p.m., setting off code red sirens in the city as well as in several other Israeli communities near northern Gaza.

Israeli security forces recovered one of the rockets fired from the Hamas-ruled territory in an open area near Netiv HaAsara. A second rocket was found in an open area on the outskirts of the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. No injuries or damage were reported.

Israeli defense officials suspect that the Islamic Jihad terror group fired the rockets on Tuesday night. Additionally, terrorists affiliated with the Palestinian Authority-ruling Fatah faction released photos this week that were purportedly taken before rockets were fired at Israel from Gaza.
