(JNS.org) A Palestinian terrorist was arrested Thursday outside the Jewish community of Kochav Yaakov in Judea and Samaria, after a search of his backpack uncovered a meat cleaver, knife and Quran.

A firefighter in the area spotted the “suspicious man” as he approached the community’s entrance. Several officers from the Israel Police’s Special Patrol Unit arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect after uncovering the weapons in his bag. The suspect reportedly told police that the bag belonged to “someone else” who intended to carry out a terror attack in the community.

The arrest outside Kochav Yaakov came a day after the Israeli Border Police arrested a 17-year-old Palestinian in possession of a long knife at the entrance of Hebron’s Cave of the Patriarchs, one of the holiest sites in Judaism. Officers stationed at the site’s entrance found the knife concealed in the suspect’s sock as he attempted to avoid passing through metal detectors.
