(JNS) A massive explosion rocked central Gaza on Saturday, killing at least six Hamas terrorists.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, an armed wing of Hamas, blamed “the Zionist enemy” for the blast, but Palestinian media referred to it as a “work accident,” a term usually used to describe the accidental detonation of explosives being utilized in preparation for a terror attack.

The IDF said it was unaware of the cause of the blast.

The six men, aged 27 to 37, were called “martyrs” by Hamas.

Reports indicate that the explosives detonated while the men were transporting them in an all-terrain vehicle a few hundred meters from the border with Israel.

Hamas has ramped up its fight against Israel in recent weeks, urging Gazans to participate in violent “March of Return” protests against Israel at the security fence between Gaza and Israel, and promising payments to the families of those killed or injured.
