(JNS.org) The Trump administration is in talks with Israeli officials about a possible visit to the Jewish state in late May, Israel’s Channel 2 reported Wednesday.

Trump’s Israel visit may be part of his first foreign trip. He is scheduled to attend a NATO conference in Brussels May 25 and a G-7 meeting in Italy. The president's Jewish daughter and son-in-law, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, will reportedly join Trump on the visit if it materializes. Kushner serves as the president’s senior adviser.

A delegation of 25 American officials arrives in Israel Thursday to lay the groundwork for President Trump's trip. The visitors will meet with high-level Israeli officials and tour several locations that could be included in Trump's itinerary. 

Trump’s visit may coincide with Israel’s Jerusalem Day celebrations, which mark the 50-year anniversary of Israel’s reunification of Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley may visit Israel separately in June.
