A Kallah's Worst Nightmare: Newly Orphaned and In Need of Help

Racheli Shlomo, a 19-year-old Bnei Brak native, is currently going through an extremely difficult ordeal. What should be the happiest time of her life being newly engaged has become, unfortunately, too difficult and stressful for her to bear.

In the last eight months, Racheli lost both of her parents to cancer and has become an orphan. First, Racheli’s mother lost her battle with cancer. After her loss, Racheli became very close with her father and soon got engaged. After her engagement, however, her father was diagnosed and succumbed to his battle with cancer four months after the passing of her mother.

With no family to turn to, Racheli has been living at her school principal’s house until her upcoming wedding next month. She is currently working as hard as she can to raise funds for the general necessities any newlywed would need in order to get married and build a new home, but she is seeing that even with all of her efforts it will not be enough.

Racheli then turned to Kupat Ha’ir, a non profit organization run in accordance with the rulings of the Gedolei Yisrael that aims to reach less fortunate families and ensure them financial security for basic needs. Kupat Ha’ir helps people in need through clothing distribution, food distribution, private funds recruitment, permanent assistance for families in need, and general assistance to families.

On her Kupat Ha’ir fund page, Racheli expresses her fear of what is to come if the $30,000 she needs is not raised in time for her wedding. Racheli states that her and her fiancé have nothing for their home including furniture, dishes, appliances, and even clothing to wear.

Racheli then pleads for anyone who is able to help her in her time of need as she is afraid her engagement will get called off due to financial troubles.

“This is my chance to have a happy home, life, and family,” pleads Racheli, ”I am praying that you will pity me and help.”
