Community Business Highlight: The Men's Department

Ever look in your closet and feel like there's a void you can’t fill? Feel like your shopping trips are less than productive? Renee Tabache of the Men’s Department is there to assist when those problems come about.

Renee is a personal stylist for men. Clients get in touch with her, give her a spending budget, and get a free consultation to evaluate exactly what it is you need. After all of the information is given, a shopping trip is planned.

“People don’t just call me because they need a new pair of slacks,” explained Tabache, “they call because they just started to interview with one of the top four accounting firms, starting a new career path, or they might be just starting to date.”

According to Renee, “Whatever it may be, they are contacting me because they want a change.”

From the consultation, to picking out the clothes, seeing how things fit, what's flattering and what's not, you can be sure Renee’s eye and opinion is on point and on trend. Renee started Men’s Department four years ago and by now she's made relationships with many store clerks at department stores and always manages to get a nice discount for her client as well. What Renee offers is a lifestyle change and her services don’t end at checkout.

“I get pictures from clients all the time of their outfits asking me if something goes nicely or just sending picture updates because they feel great and they want to show me how they look,” explained Renee of her relationships with her clients.

Renee’s always there for a quick tip or complement, as well as another shopping venture when they feel their wardrobe could use another boost.

When Renee isn’t dealing with styling clients, she’s a commercial real estate broker. She attended school for accounting and real estate investment and graduated from the business honors program at Baruch College.

During finals week, she found herself procrastinating with her true passion which was fashion. That's when she began Mens Department. Balancing real estate and personal styling isn’t always easy but it’s very fulfilling for Renee. She finds that her occupations sometimes connect, in the sense that they both revolve around retail and people.

Social media is Renee’s number one source for marketing.

“I post on Instagram and Snapchat A LOT,” explained Renee of her marketing strategies. Word of mouth is also great for her business.

”I really am a people person. I talk a lot. If you don’t know I shop for men, I’ll make sure you find out,” Renee exclaimed.

Her clients also go out of their way a lot to help promote Renee and the outfits that she puts together for them.
