(JNS.org) As the world marks the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks Monday, the Jewish National Fund (JNF) is hosting and participating in various memorial events in the U.S. and Israel to honor American first-responders.

Thousands of Israeli citizens, Israeli officials and U.S. combat veterans will join U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman at the 9/11 Living Memorial in Jerusalem to express gratitude to first-responders for their contributions and sacrifices.

The memorial, donated by JNF World Chairman Council member Edward Blank, was constructed in 2009 in the foothills of Israel’s capital city.

“We are very pleased to recognize our brave first-responders for their contributions and sacrifices to our nation and to our local communities, and to share our mutual respect while we honor those who fell during the attacks,” Blank said.

JNF will also host public tributes to first-responders in Baltimore; Beverly Hills, Calif.; Long Island, N.Y.; Los Angeles; Miami; and Westchester, N.Y.

Hundreds of Jewish students, lay leaders, rabbis and Jewish community members are expected to participate in the events.
