(JNS.org) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may present a new Jerusalem construction plan to President Donald Trump during the American leader’s visit to Israel this month, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

The report comes as Israel’s Ministry of Construction and Housing as well as the Jerusalem Municipality are in the midst of developing an agreement on the construction of 28,000 new homes in the capital city during the next decade. Construction Minister Yoav Gallant announced the new housing last week ahead of the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem’s reunification, despite Trump’s request to Netanyahu in February to “hold back on settlements.”

Under the proposal announced by Gallant, 15,000 apartments are slated for construction beyond the 1967 lines in the areas of Atarot, Gilo and Givat Hamatos, while 13,000 homes will be built within the 1967 lines. Further, 10,000 of the planned homes will be offered at discounted prices to first-time home buyers through a government-fixed rate, reported Globes.
