Congress Expected to Advance Bill Targeting Palestinian Authority’s Terror Payments

(JNS.org) The Taylor Force Act, legislation targeting the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) payments to convicted terrorists and their families, is expected to receive broad bipartisan support in a vote in the House Foreign Affairs Committee on Nov. 15.
Should the committee approve the bill, it will advance to the House floor for a full congressional vote.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colo.) introduced the Taylor Force Act in September 2016. The legislation would make U.S. aid to the PA conditional upon the Palestinians halting the terror payments.
The PA’s terror payments currently total about $300 million annually. Payments to imprisoned terrorists increase in proportion to the length of their sentences.
The American legislation is named for a former U.S. Army officer who was killed in a Palestinian terror attack in Jaffa last year.
