Kings Plaza Shopping Center Garage Engulfed in Flames

Vehicles on the second and third floors of the Kings Plaza Shopping Center garage in Marine Park Brooklyn, NY are currently engulfed in flames. Firefighters are fighting the seventh alarm fire, many suffering from smoke inhalation.

Eighteen firefighters and three civilians are being treated for smoke inhalation.

"None of these 21 injuries are life-threatening or critical, everyone is stable," stated the FDNY. "Our members have various levels of smoke inhalation, heat exhaustion, working under those conditions. Smoke and heat, wearing what they wear, one can only imagine what they are going through."

Currently, the Kings Plaza Shopping Center is closed due to fire and smoke surrounding the inside of the mall.

Up to 120 vehicles were being stored in the parking garage by a local dealership.

"We are not sure yet how many of them burned, but many of these cars were involved in creating this fire," said the FDNY. "If you were here earlier, a huge amount of black smoke, a very large amount of fire, was confronting our people."

People are being asked to avoid the area at this time while 250-300 firefighters work to put out the fire.
