Falafel Burgers

So worth the extra effort to make your own falafel mix! Recipe adapted from Susie Fishbein's Kosher by Design Teens.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Small red onion, cut into quarters
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley, washed and dried
  • 6-8 Sprigs of Cilantro
  • 15 oz. White beans
  • 15 oz. Chickpeas
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Olive Oil for frying

Directions:

Place first 3 ingredients in a food processor. Blend until finely chopped, add in the can of white beans and puree until smooth.

Add in the can of chickpeas and pulse until mixed together with some retained texture.

Transfer mixture into a mixing bowl and stir in the flour, baking powder and spices.

Form into balls with wet hands and flatten.

Heat Olive Oil in a pan, and fry for a 2 minutes on each side, until crispy. Do not crowd pan.

Enjoy!
